Hi Maurice,
I love having a conversation! You make Public Speaking look so easy and so much fun!
Ciao!

Maurice, I couldn’t agree more with your urging a public speaker to speak slowly and loudly! Too soft a voice and rushed words make a speech so hard to take in. People also need to be aware that microphones don’t do any good if you yourself don’t PROJECT your voice — speak from your diaphragm and push the words out (not in a forced way, but as if you are wanting to be sure the elderly person with poor hearing in the very back of the room can hear you!). Maurice, maybe you know a better way to describe “projecting the voice.” Another key, I have found as a listener and a speaker (preacher) is enunciating your words. My choir teacher in high school told us, “Pronounce your consonants 4 times more strongly than you think you have to!” As a result of learning from him, I have had numerous people come up to me after a sermon delivery, saying, “I usually have trouble hearing speakers, but I could hear YOU!”
Thanks for your great tips! Good post!! Looks (from the photo) like you had a nice-sized group!
