New Year’s Resolutions – New Decade’s Resolutions

New Year’s Resolutions – New Decade’s Resolutions

I am intrigued by this New Year.  It is a new year that ends in zero.  I feel as if we are at a start of something, something big. Sure there have been other years that end in zero but this one is different.  Maybe because it is part of the new millennium or because I am becoming older.

I look at this coming year as the start of the “Ten Year Plan” – I see this coming decade as one with massive growth.  We all look at resolutions as “what I am going to do this year?”  I am looking at them as “who will I be in ten years?”   The time to start is now.

Reading is the foundation of knowledge.  Did you know the average American reads a half a book a year?  Yes, 0.5 books per year.  This past year I read eleven books.  I am going to increase this for the coming year.  I do my best to read 15 minutes per day.  This year I plan on reading 30 minutes per day.  And if a miss a day, so what!  I am still reading a lot more than the previous year.   This will be a big help with the Ten Year Plan.

Attend seminars.  When I give my Leadership seminars, I talk about the gurus/the experts suggesting we should attend four to five seminars per year.  At least one per quarter.  This is a great way to get fresh ideas, meet and network with people and to broaden one’s horizons.  This will help with the Ten Year Plan.

Be in the present moment.  Now there’s a good one.  I have learned that being in the present moment will help reduce stress, fear and procrastination.  I am not going to let my past drag me down.  And whatever the future holds – so be it.  I will be in the perfect present.  What can I do right now to improve myself, improve my relationships or improve my business?  This will put a smile on the Ten Year Plan.

I am looking forward to this coming New Year…or should I say Decade.  It gives me hope, determination and a good/positive feeling.

What are your plans for the New Year?  What is that slight improvement you can do to put yourself on the right course to success?
